Neal Stephenson's REAMDE

Neal Stephenson has a BIG new 1056 page book coming out on September 20th! It's called Reamde (a spoonerism pronounced as Read Me). {You can also switch two letters and get "remade."} Or [consider L'Âge d'Or.]

And what's more, Stephenson is coming to Book Passage to read from and discuss his new book on October 6th at 7 pm. This special Book Passage-sponsored event will take place at the nearby College of Marin.

Stephenson, author of the #1 New York Times bestseller Anathem, is continually tripping-up the literary world with his brazen and brilliant fictional creations – whether he’s inventing the future (Snow Crash *), re-imagining the past (The Baroque Cycle), or somehow managing to do both (Cryptonomicon).

With Reamde, this visionary author whose mind-stretching speculative fiction has been compared to the work of Pynchon, DeLillo, Vonnegut, and David Foster Wallace, and William Gibson once again blazes new ground. And once again, he delivers a high-intensity, high-stakes, action-packed thriller in which a tech entrepreneur gets caught in the very real crossfire of his own online war game. We have also read that it has something to do with gold farming, according to the esteemed Mr. Cory Doctorow.

This special event – one of only a handful of events around the country for Stephenson's new book – will take place at College of Marin, Olney Hall (835 College Ave. in Kentfield) on Thursday, October 6th at 7 pm. Tickets are $40 and include a copy of Reamde (William Morrow, $35.00). A booksigning will follow the author presentation.

To purchase tickets or for further information, call Book Passage at 415.927.0960 or visit www.bookpassage.com Can't make it to this special event? Order a signed copy today! (Books will be shipped promptly after the event.)

* Did you know, for example, that Snowcrash was named one of TIME magazine’s top 100 all-time best English-language novels.
