Sheryl Crow : If It Makes You Healthy

Happy birthday Sheryl Crow! The nine-time Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter was born on this day in 1962. Rock star. Activist. Mother. Sheryl Crow can now add chef and author to the list of her many accomplishments.

Recently, with the help
of personal chef Chuck White, Sheryl Crow authored If It Makes You Healthy: More Than 100 Delicious Recipes Inspired by the Seasons (St. Martins, $29.99). Sheryl Crow will be signing copies of her new book at our San Francisco store on March 31st It's an event you won't want to miss. (additional details below)

Known as much for her youthful looks and natural chic as she is for her heartfelt songs, Crow has written a cookbook that is true to her unique, personal style.
Rock-and-roll flavored throughout, If It Makes You Healthy offers a full menu of approximately 125 recipes grouped seasonally, which reflects Crow's busy schedule: Summer months offer tomatoes and corn, and summer also puts the performer on the road. Fall and winter brings apples and winter squash, when the singer-songwriter is at home and in the studio.

From the big entertaining menus that are prepared for her crew while touring (Mojito braised pork) to small home-cooked meals for Crow and her two sons (basil and apple marinated chicken), this book is filled with easy and flavorful recipes anyone can make.
[Each are lushly photographed by Victoria Pearson.] Along the way, Crow weaves in stories about touring and home life with stories about her childhood, her early years as a backup singer, and her eventual stardom.
The duo of Sheryl Crow and Chuck White met while the singer was battling breast cancer, which for her, was a wake-up call to eat more healthily. Since then, Chuck has taught Sheryl how to do just that by cooking foods that are seasonal, locally grown, and vitamin-rich in order to keep her on top of her game and always ready to perform. Now Sheryl and Chuck want to bring their healthy, delicious creations from her kitchen into yours.
