Is there anything more exhilarating than a beautiful bookstore? Last night I read in the most gorgeous room at Elliott Bay Books in Seattle, surrounded by wood and books and lots of friendly faces. For me it was particularly exciting because I used to live in Seattle and would dream of someday reading at this bookstore. I could not stop grinning the whole night.
Tonight I am reading at Powell's in Portland, also a gorgeous store, and just so awesomely intimidating as well in size. It makes me really happy to think there are just so many people who love books that it would warrant a bookstore that big.
And of course I can't wait to come to Book Passage on Friday - it's such a stunning store. I don't think I'll be able to post tomorrow because it's a travel day. I do hope I'll see you all there. I promise to bring my "A" game and give an entertaining read from The Kept Man.
